The Madeira Garden Tour

The Garden Tour in February is ideal for guests visiting Madeira for the first time, seeking an all-inclusive garden holiday, and also for those returning to the island. We will visit a range of gardens, large and small, with further optional tours available from the hotel. The orchid collection at Quinta da Boa Vista is spectacular and at Monte, a hill town above Funchal, are the glorious tropical gardens which surround the chateau-like Monte Palace. The Palheiro Gardens are famous for their Camellias along with a wide range of plants in season, and a tour of the Quintinha das Ervas garden explains the history, uses and benefits of a great variety of ornamental and aromatic plants.

Madeira is also an island to explore, with its dramatic landscape, terracing and abundant flora, and a full-day excursion is included to show the best of the island's scenery, history, and culture.

Over the weekend, Madeira will be holding its famous Carnival Parade. Traditionally held on the Saturday before Shrove Tuesday, this Mardi Gras-type parade is watched by thousands of local residents and holiday-makers, who line the streets of Funchal to enjoy the vibrant samba bands.

This elegant 4-star hotel, located in a quiet area of Funchal and a short distance from the city centre, is surrounded by award-winning gardens and views of the mountains. Great Garden Getaways has used this lovely hotel many times in recent years, with unanimous approval.

Accommodation includes kitchenette, private bathroom, twin beds, cable TV, telephone, safety deposit box (for rental) and private balcony. The Miramar Restaurant provides buffet-style meals, with theme evenings and live entertainment. Leisure facilities include a health spa with sauna, jacuzzi, turkish bath, outdoor and indoor swimming pools.
