Madeira and Flower Festival

Our second trip, the Madeira and Flower Festival holiday which departs in April will suit guests returning to Madeira, as well as first-timers, for a Spring holiday with plenty of free time. A range of garden visits and excursions will be available and these can be booked from the hotel.

This 'do-it-yourself' holiday could include a visit to Madeira’s neighbouring island, Porto Santo, or exploring the island by following the footpaths alongside the 'levadas', a network of small irrigation canals which wind their way down through the mountains to woodlands and valleys, offering stunning views.

The famous Madeira Flower Festival takes place over the weekend with parades through the streets of Funchal in traditional costumes, flower carpets in the streets, performances of traditional music groups and a flower exhibition. The 'Wall of Hope', a new addition to the Festival, is built by children symbolising the hope for a better and more peaceful world.

Staying at the Pestana Casino Park Hotel

This 5-star hotel is set on the coast in its own gardens, with views across the sea and mountains, and is a few minutes walk from the centre of Funchal. All bedrooms have a private balcony, bathroom with a bath, shower and separate WC, hair dryer, satellite and cable TV, free digital safe, mini bar and air conditioning.

There are three restaurants, a cocktail bar with live music most evenings and a pool bar. Leisure facilities include a large outdoor heated swimming pool, indoor pool, spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath, hymnasium and tennis courts.
