Garden holidays in KentKent's Historic Gardens Known as the 'Garden of England', Kent is famous for its many wonderful gardens and our early summer tour will be based in the City of Canterbury at the Abbots Barton Hotel.
Our first visit takes us to one of the loveliest gardens in Kent, Goodnestone Park (pictured, left), a 14 acre site comprising an arboretum, a mature woodland area and a superb old walled garden. From here we travel towards the coast to spend time at Walmer Castle and Gardens, a Tudor castle with delightful gardens and panoramic sea views. The Salutation Gardens, nestling in the ancient town of Sandwich, have been restored to the original Jekyll and Lutyens design, and provide an opportunity to step back in time to experience a stunning architectural garden.
Sissinghurst Castle Garden is one of the world’s most celebrated gardens and is set in the middle of its own woods with views across the Kentish landscape. The famous intimate and romantic gardens are full of surprises, and are beautifully maintained. We travel back to Canterbury to spend some free time in this historic city. En route we will visit the gardens of Mount Ephraim, with magnificent views over parkland to the Swale and Thames estuaries. On our return we will call into Belmont Park to enjoy the pleasure gardens and remade kitchen garden on this lovely old estate. Cost per person: £345 Departure points: Lincoln, Newark, Leicester, Lutterworth |
