Dutch Delights   |   Back to Garden Holidays

A new addition to the Great Garden Getaways portfolio, we visit the Netherlands to see the famous Keukenhof Gardens and the Het Loo Palace.

Keukenhof Gardens: Set in 77 acres of wooded park in Lisse Keukenhof, are some of the world's most spectacular flower gardens. Established in 1949 as a showcase for Dutch bulb-growers, every spring more than seven million buds reach to the sky. The growers compete for the most imaginative display, interplanting species for effect.

Japanese cherry trees, azaleas and rhododendrons flower behind the rows of spring bulbs and displays are regularly refreshed with new plantings to ensure a consistently dazzling array.

Het Loo Palace: Now a national museum, this extravagant 17th century palace and accompanying gardens were once the home of the Dutch royal family of Orange-Nassau.

After undergoing seven years of restoration, Palais Het Loo in Apeldorn was re-opened to the public in 1984. A Dutch baroque garden with rich decoration, Het Loo is 'The Versailles of Holland'.

Please note that Great Garden Getaways will not be organising a trip to the Netherlands in 2012. More information about upcoming garden holidays in The Netherlands is coming soon.
