Garden holidays in the Cotswolds

Westonbirt is the finest and largest arboretum in the British Isles and contains one of the most important collections of trees and shrubs in the world within its 500 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The spectacular autumn colour in this beautiful arboretum is breathtaking.

Our next visit is to the fabulous Abbey House Gardens, in the heart of Malmesbury. Situated where the Cotswolds meets the West Country, this meticulous, privately owned garden contains a host of different garden styles and planting schemes within its 5 acres.

Enroute to the Cotswolds, our first stop will be to visit the gardens of Hidcote Manor which demonstrate how a structured, highly disciplined formal garden can become alive with dramatic planting, contrasts and seasonal colour. From here we will visit Batsford Arboretum, tucked away on a south facing escarpment of the famous Cotswold Hills, which has one of the largest private collections of trees and shrubs in the country. With excellent collections of Acer, Betula, Sorbus and Maples, the changing autumnal leaf colour throughout the arboretum is a glorious sight.

On our journey home and after some time exploring the lovely grounds of the hotel, we will be travelling to Bodenham Arboretum which is reached through a mile long drive winding through undulating countryside. Hidden away in its own valley, this beautiful garden has a myriad of pools, dells and glades and contains over 3000 species of trees and shrubs from all over the world.
